Mission trip possibility

I'm planning on maybe going on a mission trip to Chile this July... a lot of my friends and my older sister are also planning on going. It may not work out since it will be like almost $2000 total (counting not only the original amount which is like $600, but also the passport and plane ticket). And I'd like to save up my money that I earn for other things, like college. But I've been feeling really impressed to go. Even though it probably won't even be fun for the most part, it would be worth it in other ways. I'd like to ask for prayers that I make the right decision, and if going is it, that I will be able to raise enough funds to go. Thank you!

Comida

In a little bit I'll be going shopping for some ingredients, I'm supposed to make a Russian dish for potluck... I have decided to make potato and mushroom fritters. They're basically mushrooms and potatoes dipped in batter and deep fried. If they turn out nicely (and probably even if they don't, lol) I'll try to post the recipe and pictures.

Something I'm looking forward to even more is making a dish called Ratatouille. If you've watched the movie Ratatouille, you'll know what it is... anyway whenever I have watched the movie I get soooooo hungry!!!! Especially for the ratatouille. I easily found a good recipe online, it looks really simple. It's a vegetable stew with zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms, eggplant, tomatoes, onion, garlic, olive oil, and I think some spices. I can't wait to get the ingredients and try it out. I'll try to post the recipe and photos of the ratatouille too.

Tuesday evening my sister and I made a chocolate cake. My mom made it for my birthday and it is just soooooo delicious!!! The recipe is called something like Rich Black moist chocolate cake... we got the from a cookbook that was put together by the people who live or lived in the little village my mom grew up in and my grandma still lives in. There are a lot of very good recipes in there... a line from the recipe said "this cake will stay moist for 7-10 days if you can keep it that long." Yeah it was quite a large cake but it was gone by this morning! It went so fast I didn't even have time to take a picture. yeah it was totally that good! Anyway I'll be posting the recipe eventually. I want to make it again asap...

Summer Job

About a week ago I applied for a summer job at Dorney Park, an amusement park close to here. I might be doing anything from working in a food stand to a gift shop cashier... I wasn't old enough for any of the ride attendant/ lifeguard jobs, although I'll probably apply for doing that another year when I am old enough. I really hope I get it. But if I don't, I'll do my best at finding other things to do with my summer.

Fishy

A few weeks ago one of my fish had babies... she died a few days afterwards and I thought all of her babies had died, but then one day I looked into the tank and saw a very mini fish being chased by one of the larger tank residents. Anyway so we took out junior and put him into an old betta tank and he (or she, can't tell yet) has been doing just fine. He's about a fourth of an inch long but you can see his tail is darker and his body is getting reddish-orange if you look close. Anyway, I hope he grows fast and that my sister's fish will give birth soon too so he can have some company. =) I found out that in 8-12 weeks he will be big enough to put back in with the other fish.

Last night my sister and Korah and I went to this thing called Junior Presentation at BMA... it was a program for the juniors at BMA... anyway it was fun, and we got to see our friend Esther who goes there. I guess it would be fun to go to BMA next school year, at least more fun than homeschooling.

Is this sad?

I've made 14 posts this month... and got just one comment. :( sometimes I find it hard to believe my site meter when it says this site's been visited 89 times this month... I think most of the visits have been by me. anyway I'll be putting up a chatbox again so just thought I'd ask whoever's reading this, let me know if you've been here and leave me a message or a comment. :D

The First Robin!!!

I saw this year's first robin today, and got pictures... here's one of them. The poor bird happened to arrive right in the middle of an ice storm. It kept slipping and sliding around on the icy branches, and I saw it try to drink the water dripping from icicles. This robin must not have heard about the groundhog's shadow, supposedly we were to have 6 more weeks of winter, if that's accurate then there's a little more than 4 weeks to go til Spring.

Today's trash

yeah we've had that horse since Brentley was a baby, but the parts for the bouncy ride part got lost so no reason to just keep it around taking up space... I thought it looked pretty funny in the trash can... kind of pitiful too, almost like it was struggling to get out of the trash can... lol

More photos from the Connowingo Dam

^^ me and Korah ^^
Alyssa sitting on a pile of rocks

Korah chillin =D

We climbed onto this structure... it was a concrete staircase just sitting on the edge of the water... don't know what it was doing there but it was cool to sit there and have the waves crash next to you but not on you...

it was made just a few days after Korah was born according to the date on it, kind of an interesting coincidence.

just laying there watching the clouds and birds blow by...
^pretty sure Alyssa took this picture^

I took all the following pics of the waves crashing against the riverbank.

Yeah I guess I kind of overdid those... but they look awesome ;)

Pictures of eagles (and a few other things) :)

Well, I've had these pictures for almost two weeks now. These are pictures that were taken at the Connowingo Dam. I didn't take a lot of them (obviously since I'm in some), my sister took some of them, but not sure all of which ones so just wanted to give her some credit.

There was lots of scum in the water in the river above the dam!
The other side of the dam...
Here's a picture of a heron my sister shot through a telescope.
Part of the river at sunset - sorry it's kind of blurry.
A lone bald eagle, we got this picture through a telescope too, as well as the next few...

Another one joined this one...

Ooh isn't this a good picture?

Alyssa took this picture of an eagle in flight.
I have it as my desktop backround.

The Connowingo Dam.

There are three eagles in this picture, two on the structure on the left and one juvenile on the structure on the right... you can click on the picture to enlarge it and try to find them.

Poor Ruthie Red

I just looked into my fish tank and saw that one of my new fish, Ruthie Red, had died during the night... hopefully she died in her sleep. :( She had just had babies (they all got eaten though). I wonder if that had anything to do with it. Our last fish just like her died when she was pregnant. Maybe the other fish were picking on her and she had a nervous breakdown.

Valentine's Day

Wow, it's coming up in two days! Yikes I want to make some of my friends some Valentines but now they are going to be late! I don't expect to get any, at least not from any guys... if I do end up with one though... hmm I can't think of any guy who wouldn't disturb me by sending me one lol...

Lancaster county countryside

Last Sabbath we visited the Lancaster Seventh Day Adventist Church. Afterwards on our way to the Connowingo Dam, we passed through Lancaster County's beautiful countryside! We saw over half a dozen horses and buggies. I got more pictures but no time to post them right now!

Yesterday

Well I went to the dentist yesterday, and no cavities, again. In fact, even though I hardly ever brush my teeth, I've never had a cavity. My dad joked it was probably the protective layer of plaque... idk maybe lol... my sister who faithfully brushes her teeth got a cavity. Kind of ironic, but I think it's because some of the things they put in most toothpastes are worse for teeth than never brushing them.

Anyway after we left the dentist office our whole family got together to go to a park in Allentown. It has a pond with geese and ducks and a nice walking/biking trail that's a total of 1.25 miles around. However, we didn't end up walking all the way around. Because after about half a mile, I saw a cute little squirrel on the ground. So I stopped and stood still. It was really friendly and hopped right one over to me and looked at me, it was soooo adorable! Then the rest of my family came and stood still too, and pretty soon there were more than a dozen squirrels scampering around us. We figured that they wanted food, because there were a lot of empty peanut shells laying around like someone had been feeding them before, which is probably why they were so friendly. My mom and little brother and little sister had to leave, but my dad, my older sister and I went to a grocery store and bought a big bag of unshelled, unsalted peanuts and brought them back to where we had last seen the squirrels. Sure enough, more and more squirrels kept popping out for a treat. Then a little flock of cardinals came to get their share of peanuts. They came so close, most of them came close enough to touch, to get their peanut treats. My sister and my dad even got a few squirrels to grab peanuts out of their hands. I wish I had had my camera! They were just too cute!!!! I hope we'll be able to feed them again soon.

A thought on Creation vs. Evolution

You can choose to believe that you are descended from an ape, or ultimately from a piece of slime from the bottom of the ocean...
but I know that I was intelligently designed by the Creator.

"I will praise Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are Thy works, and that my soul knoweth full well." Psalms 139:14

Even with all the "evidence",
Evolution makes no sense.

Can't wait!

My mom finally called a few rabbit breeders who she got some info on at the Farm Show. So she met a few people who have baby minilops soon to be available and she'll get back with us when she knows she has what we are looking for. :) Which to be precise would be two sisters, or of the same age, mini lops, agouti or pearl colored coats. Anyway, it's going to be awhile to wait... around three weeks til she gets back with us and then from there if she has what we're looking for, like another month til they're old enough to go. Hope the time goes by fast...

Groundhog day!

yep, it's groundhog day! I don't believe in the superstition that when spring comes depends on whether mr. groundhog sees his shadow or not... but it's still a funny holiday!

This Sabbath

Well today was great... our youth class (well most of it anyway) went on a day's outing. My sister and friend Korah and I slept over at our SS teacher's house because they live close to the church and we had to be there real early. Yeah so we woke up at like 5:00 a.m. and I was kind of tired the whole day cuz of that. Anyway sabbath school and church and potluck were very nice, and then afterwards we went to the Conowingo Dam in Maryland to see bald eagles... I did end up seeing at least a dozen... I think more though... we got some pictures, that I'll try to upload and post tomorrow. And while we weren't looking for eagles we hung out along the river bank... then in the evening wewent to this interesting restaurant/deli called Issac's. The food was okay, we got soda and two personal pizzas and split them and ice cream for dessert. well i guess it's bedtime now *yawn* (more like long past bedtime...) so good night!
