New fish!!!

Yep I picked out two new fish and named one Koramae and the other Ruthie Red. They're both platies, one's a red wag (Ruthie Red that is), and Koramae is white with blueish and greenish color on it. I still have my three old platies, named Nicky, Flame, and Dot. They all are becoming very good friends. :D

blue mushroom

Isn't this mushroom so exoticly cool?!

btw it isn't photoshopped, this really is a species of mushroom...

so...

yes I think Blogger is having issues... it won't let me change my avatar. Oh well...
Anyway guess what! Okay really you don't have to guess... the other day I went out shopping with my mom and yeah I got some great stuff... I got my sister a fish tank as an early 16th birthday present, and I got myself one as well... mine's purple, hers is teal. They each hold 5 gallons, they're a minibow kit, with almost everything except the fish. So I'm not sure what kind of fish I'm getting but neon tetras would be awesome, so would guppies... maybe angelfish. hmmm... anyway that's not the only stuff I got, I also got a new coat. I've had my old one since I was 10 or less so even though I can still fit my coat (we got it big), it's gotten kind of shabby and the zipper acts naughty. So I'm really glad for my new coat! It's white with light blue and green trim on it... I also got this pretty red shirt to wear to church, and a new swimsuit... I don't normally shop for swimsuits this time of year but they were having a sale and I need a new swimsuit for when we go to this indoor water park in March for my sister's birthday.
Anyway, I guess that's all for now... bye

A zebra-horse

It's a cross between a zebra and a horse... isn't it neat? I'd like to see one of these in real life sometime.

New Template

How do you like my new template? I needed something new (at least according to my sister)... Anyway I miss all my link lists and sidebar stuff, etc., but I'll be adding them back when I think of them.

Next Sabbath our church youth group is planning on going on an outing, I think it'll be fun. We're going to Lancaster church, then in the afternoon we're going to a park to watch bald eagles. Then in the evening we'll eat out at a restaurant, I heard it would probably be Golden Corral.

Well there's more to post about but I guess I should be going to bed, so toodles...

GIANT shroom

Ok... so I might be posting a lot about mushrooms lately, lol... anyway here's a sort of interesting thing I found...
A giant mushroom which measures 70cm and weighing 20kg was found at a coffee farm in Chiapas State, Mexico, near the border with Guatemala. It was passed to researchers as a specimen for research and teaching purposes.

Nature Friend

Okay, so a little while back I posted a photo of a mushroom like this one. Anyway the picture I had drawn that looked like it, I sent to a magazine called Nature Friend magazine, and it got published, yay!!! When I get my drawing back, I'll post it on here too.

A nightmare!!!

lol jk...

Sunrise!

A few weeks ago I woke up in time to see and photograph the sunrise. I guess I appreciated it more since we can't see sunsets from our house thanks to the townhomes across the street.

My Birthday pictures

Yes, finally some birthday pictures...
Yeah my 14th birthday was actually two weeks ago, on the 10th.
There weren't any good pitures of me (I was kind of disappointed but there's always next year), so I'll just post pictures of the food. lol

My mom made the chocolate cake, it was the best!

We also had ice cream and sherbet and ravioli and olives but I don't want to make you too hungry!

There were some videos... but only one is working and on it certain family members weren't on their best behavior so as to save their reputation I won't post it.
I still haven't gotten my birthday wish but it's only been two weeks so I'm still hoping it will come true!

Biology Experiment

Here's the result of a cool experiment I did for Biology. Using just water, salt, dish soap, a coffee filter, and meat tenderizer, I extracted the DNA from an onion! I had a great time doing it, here's a picture of all the DNA from 1/4 of an onion. I just love Biology...
oog... but next module is my first dissection... wish me luck!

P.S. For any homeschoolers looking for a good Biology curriculum, I would definately suggest Apologia! If I homeschool next year I'll be using their Marine Biology course.

My computer

Here's a picture of my computer. :) I have a mouse claro que sí pero es no en el photografo.

okay yeah my sister has a post on her blog about what happened earlier today... so anyway you can go there if you're interested... otherwise, good night!

odd day

Anyway it started when this morning I went out to the courtyard with my dog Guy to play ball, and then this old man who's a total stranger comes up and suggests that I watch out because earlier two mean dogs came running up and tried to bite him, and he had to chase them away with sticks. So I went straight home and got my dog and I both inside. Then after a couple minutes I went back outside and stayed in the yard. Sure enough, there was a dog loose and in our yard, but it was just our neighbor's dog Yeager, who had always been friendly to us and our dog. He played a minute with our dog, but I didn't want them running off so I took Guy inside again... I told my mom that's why I came in so early.
ok... so now there are two police cars parked in front of our neighbor's house. My parents are gone, Alyssa said they were at the neighbor's or something... and whenever I call them they won't tell me what's going on... they just say they have to go. Then our neighbor came over and asked what was going on? He said his house had been broken into or something and wanted to see my parents in case they knew cuz I sure didn't. I guess I'll find out what on earth is going on when they get back...

Farm show

Here's a little thing I wrote up on some of the things I did at the Farm Show last week on the 6th and 7th...

I went both days so I got to do even more (yay!)... First we went to all the stands and booths. They gave out some free promos like candy and junk, I tried only to take candy. Two stands had free ice cream, mmmm... they had poultry, rabbits, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, cows, and a few other exotic animals. There were a handful of alpacas, some peacocks (I ended up getting three peacock feathers, I love peacock feathers!), and even an elk and a buffalo. I bought this cool crystal paperweight at one of the stands.
In the poultry section there were of course lots of chickens and roosters and ducks and geese and turkeys. There were also some exhibits, one had some adorable ducklings, and there was an incubator that you could look into and watch the chicken eggs inside hatching. And there was another exhibit that they put the chicks that had hatched and dried into.
The rabbit section was my favorite. All the rabbits were so cute! My favorites were the lops of course, and after that, Dutch rabbits. There was a litter of baby dutch bunnies, aww...
Right by the rabbits were the horses. Our friend Korah tried petting one of the horses and it whirled around and tried to nip her! The other horses were nicer though. For some reason this year they had mostly draft horses. On Sunday at least. When we went on Monday they were gone... it's was odd, but I'm guessing it was because they were only needed in the shows on Sunday and then again on the following Friday. So they didn't really need to be kept there the whole week. Anyway...
The sheep and goats were nice for the most part... I even got to pet a cute baby goat. But the pigs stunk! literally... Korah tried petting one of the pigs and it tried to bite her too...
The cows were okay... the only show scheduled for Monday was the beef cow show... B-O-R-I-N-G. The shows on Sunday were really cool though. First they had the Pennsylvania mounted police do a show where they maneuvered their horses around the arena. (In the large arena (it was a really huge arena!) )... but before they did the show, while they were practicing for it, Alyssa and Korah and I went to the arena to watch them practice. And one of them rode over and let us pet his horse. It slobbered on me (the horse that is) but I didn't really care you know even though it was kind of gross.
Anyway the other show they had that day was where they hitched draft horses to carriages and had a contest for the best hitches. First they had hitches of four, then the unicorn hitch (three), then teams of two. Then they had a contest for most original/creative carriage. My favorite was the carriage that looked almost like Cinderella's coach, pulled by white Percherons, and it won! There was also a hearse pulled by black horses, a buggy, a fire engine, a covered wagon, and some others. Then they had and obstacle course for the teams of horses. There were weaving poles, and boards painted to give the illusion of depth to make the horses scared to walk over them, and some other obstacles.
Anyway we did some other stuff but this post is probably getting long and boring.

Aurora Borealis

One of the things I'd like to see is an aurora! They are just so amazing!

Mushrooms

Mushrooms are so cool, don't you think? I drew a picture of one just like this a while ago...

Tofu Chicken

I got this recipe from the Vegetarian Cooking School Cookbook by Cherise Vierra. If you like tofu, maybe you should try this recipe!

Here's a picture I took of the ones I made (I made a double batch).

Tofu Chicken

1 pound firm or extra firm tofu

1/4 - 1/2 cup brewer's yeast flakes

Bragg's Aminos

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Break tofu into big chunks, or, if you are making sandwiches, cut into strips about 1/4 inch thick. Brown in a little olive oil, Remove from pan and place in a bowl. Squirt tofu with Bragg's and coat it with the rest of the ingredients.
